US detains Ghana’s fugitive former finance minister

Ken Ofori-Atta, the former Ghanaian finance minister wanted in Ghana on suspicion of corruption, has been taken into custody by U.S. immigration authorities.

Axar.az reports his legal team said the detention is related to his immigration status.

“Ofori-Atta has a pending petition for adjustment of status,” the statement said, noting that such a status change “is common” under U.S. law.
