Migrant boat sinks off İzmir coast, one dead

A boat carrying irregular migrants has sunk off the coast of Dikili district in Turkiye’s İzmir province.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by Turkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

According to the information, Coast Guard teams rescued 37 people, while one migrant was found dead. There were a total of 45 people on board, and the fate of 7 migrants remains unknown.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
