UK withdraws staff from Iran temporarily

The United Kingdom announced on Friday that it has temporarily withdrawn its diplomatic personnel from Iran due to the current regional security situation.

Axar.az, citing Reuters, reports that the move comes amid heightened tensions after U.S. President Donald Trump, during his State of the Union address on Tuesday, outlined the possibility of military action against Iran.

While emphasizing a preference for diplomacy, he stressed that Washington would not permit Tehran to acquire a nuclear weapon.

Britain’s Foreign Office stated that its capacity to assist British nationals in Iran is now severely restricted.

The embassy in Tehran is operating remotely, and no in-person consular services are available, including in emergency situations.
