Two people die in gas leak at coal mine in Kyrgyzstan

Two people died in a gas release at the Batken Munay coal mine in the village of Samarkandek, Batken Region, Kyrgyzstan.

Axar.az reports, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the incident occurred yesterday.

The MES received information that a gas leak had occurred in the mine, with three people trapped underground. Thirteen rescuers were dispatched to the scene.

From a depth of approximately 200 meters, MES personnel recovered the bodies of the two deceased miners and handed them over to law enforcement. The third person was rescued and taken away by an ambulance.

Eighteen miners who were poisoned by the gas sought medical attention at the district hospital. Their condition is reported as satisfactory.
