Explosion damages synagogue in Rotterdam, four detained

Early on March 13, 2026, an explosion and fire damaged the entrance of a synagogue in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Axar.az reports, citing Dutch metdia, the blast briefly ignited flames, but no injuries were reported.

The police arrested four suspects, aged 17–19, in connection with the incident. Authorities have not confirmed a motive and are conducting a large-scale investigation.

Following the attack, police increased patrols around synagogues and Jewish institutions, reviewing social media video footage and stopping a vehicle matching a suspect description.

Rotterdam Mayor Carola Schouten and Justice Minister David van Weel condemned the attack, emphasizing that hatred or violence against religious groups will not be tolerated.
