Cuba faces major disruption in its electricity supply

Cuban officials reported an island-wide blackout on Monday affecting the country’s approximately 11 million residents, amid deepening challenges in the nation’s energy and economic sectors.

Axar.az informs, citing the Ministry of Energy and Mines X, reports a “total disconnection” of the country’s electrical system and says it is investigating, noting that there were no failures in the units that were operating when the grid collapsed.

"A total disconnection of the SEN (National Electric System) has occurred; the causes are being investigated, and protocols for restoration are being activated," the ministry wrote on X.

Relevant authorities have launched investigations into the incident. No further details have been provided.

It was the third major blackout in Cuba over the past four months.
