Maduro and wife release first message since US custody

Ousted Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have issued their first public message since being taken into U.S. custody in January.

Axar.az reports that the statement, posted on Maduro’s official X account, described the couple as “steadfast, serene, and in constant prayer.”

In their message, they expressed gratitude for the letters and support received during their nearly three-month detention in a New York federal prison.

"We have received your communications, your messages, your letters, and your songs and actions. Each word of love, each act of affection, each expression of support fills our souls and strengthens us spiritually. We remain well, firm, serene, and in constant prayer," the statement reads.
