Israeli citizen charged with aiding Iranian intelligence

Israeli prosecutors have charged 23-year-old Ali Jaber with contacting a foreign agent acting on behalf of Iranian intelligence and passing along information potentially useful to Iran.

Axar.az reports, citing JP, according to the indictment filed with the Jerusalem District Court, Jaber first contacted a Telegram user identified as “Joan” in January while seeking temporary work.

He was offered paid assignments and received about $80 via PayPal for photographing a traffic circle near Eilat’s central bus station. Later, he was asked to photograph locations at Ovda Air Base, the Iron Dome system, and a military barracks, though he refused to complete some tasks after suspecting the operative was acting for Iran.

The indictment charges Jaber with one count of contacting a foreign agent and three counts of delivering information likely to be useful to the enemy.

Prosecutors may seek prison time and the forfeiture of his cellphone if he is convicted.
