Leonov, creator of Zircon hypersonic missile, dies

Alexander Georgievich Leonov, head of NPO Mashinostroyeniya and creator of the “Zircon” hypersonic missile, has passed away.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, Leonov, who was 74 years old, was also awarded the title of Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation.

Under his leadership, NPO Mashinostroyeniya developed advanced military systems, including the Avangard ICBM equipment, Oniks cruise missiles, Bastion coastal defense complexes, and radar surveillance satellites.
