At least 45 dead, 105 injured in Pakistan flood

At least 45 people have died and 105 others sustained injuries in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province due to heavy rains and related incidents that began on March 25.

Axar.az reports, citing The News Pakistan, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the casualties were mainly caused by collapsing roofs and walls amid strong water currents across multiple districts.

Those killed include 23 children, 17 men, and five women, while the injured include 45 men, 16 women, and 44 children.

A total of 442 houses were damaged, with 382 partially destroyed and 60 completely destroyed.

The PDMA said it is coordinating with Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant authorities, with relief operations ongoing.

Officials have warned of another spell of heavy rainfall from April 6 to 9, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly to disaster-prone and sensitive tourist areas, and to follow official advisories.
