JD Vance meets Pakistan PM Sharif in Islamabad talks

The US Vice President J.D. Vance has met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Islamabad talks.

Axar.az reports, citing Al Jazeera, US Vice President J.D. Vance was accompanied by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, as well as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, were also present at the meeting.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also received Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif expressed hope that the talks would serve as “a stepping stone towards durable peace in the region” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating both sides.

No further details of the discussions have been disclosed.
