Iran, Saudi FM discuss regional tensions and US talks

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

Axar.az reports, citing IRIB broadcaster, that Araghchi briefed his Saudi counterpart on the latest developments in the region following the announcement of a ceasefire, as well as the risks stemming from what he described as provocative actions by the United States. He also informed him about Iran–US negotiations in Islamabad.

Araghchi stressed Iran’s responsible and good-faith approach in accepting the ceasefire and entering negotiations, adding that excessive demands by the US side persisted during the talks, which led to the failure to reach an agreement.

The Saudi Foreign Minister emphasized his country’s support for diplomatic efforts and expressed hope that the process would lead to a complete end to the war and the restoration of lasting security and stability in the region.
