Macron urges resumption of Iran talks in Islamabad

France President Emmanuel Macron said he has spoken with both Donald Trump and Masoud Pezeshkian and urged the resumption of stalled negotiations in Islamabad.

Axar.az reports that Macron stated that yesterday he spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as with U.S. President Donald Trump.

“I urged the resumption of the negotiations suspended in Islamabad, the clearing up of misunderstandings, and the avoidance of any further escalation,” he wrote on X.

He stressed the importance of maintaining a strict ceasefire by all parties, including its extension to Lebanon.

Macron also stated: “It is equally important that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened unconditionally, without restrictions or tolls, as soon as possible.”

He added that, under these conditions, negotiations could resume quickly with the support of key stakeholders, and noted that France and United Kingdom will host a conference in Paris bringing together non-belligerent countries to support a multilateral and defensive mission aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
