A historic decision has been made regarding the leadership of Iraq’s city of Kirkuk.
Axar.az reports, citing Iraqi media, that Mehmet Seman Agha, head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, has been elected governor of Kirkuk. He secured 12 out of 14 votes in the Kirkuk Provincial Council.
It should also be noted that this is being seen as the first time in 102 years that Kirkuk has been governed by a person of Turkmen origin.
