Attempted firebomb attack targets London synagogue

An attempted arson attack has been carried out at a synagogue in northwest London, with police treating the incident as an antisemitic hate crime and a counter-terrorism investigation now underway.

Axar.az reports, citing Sky News, that officers were called to the Kenton United Synagogue shortly after midnight, where patrol units noticed damage to a window and signs of smoke inside the building.

Investigators later found evidence that a bottle containing an accelerant had been thrown through the window.

According to the Community Security Trust (CST), the attack caused minor smoke damage to an internal room, with no injuries or significant structural damage reported.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said police have increased resources in the area and stressed that “there is no place for antisemitism in our city,” adding that those responsible will face the full force of the law.

The incident comes just one day after another suspected arson attack on a building formerly used by a Jewish charity in northwest London, which is also being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime.
