Lake Urmia water volume rises to 2.89B cubic meters

The water volume of Lake Urmia has reached 2.89 billion cubic meters.

Axar.az reports, citing IRNA, Majid Rastgari, head of the West Azerbaijan Regional Water Company, said the lake’s volume reached 2.89 billion cubic meters at the end of Farvardin (April).

According to him, the water level has risen to 1,270.70 meters. While this level still remains 3.40 meters below the ecological level of 1,274.10 meters, it shows a clear improvement compared to both last year and the beginning of the current water year.

Rastgari said that at the start of the water year, the lake’s level stood at 1,269.50 meters, meaning it has risen by about 120 centimeters over the past seven months.
