Moscow region hit by large-scale drone attack - Video

On May 17, a large-scale drone (UAV) attack targeted Moscow city and the surrounding Moscow region.

Axar.az reports, citing TASS, air defenses intercepted more than 120 drones heading toward Moscow over the past 24 hours, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said.

Local reports indicate that explosions were heard in several areas, including Khimki, Mytishchi, Istra, Dedovsk, and Naro-Fominsk, as well as in parts of Moscow.

As a result of the attacks, several people were killed and injured. In the Moscow Region alone, three people were killed, and at least five others were injured, while more than 12 people were reported injured in Moscow.

The attacks also caused damage to residential buildings and infrastructure, including apartment blocks and private homes in multiple districts. In some cases, drone debris caused fires and structural damage.

Following the incidents, Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports temporarily restricted operations.

Authorities also reported that response teams, emergency services, and law enforcement agencies were deployed to affected sites.
