Moscow sets heat record on May 19

On May 19, the temperature in Moscow rose to 30.5 degrees Celsius, setting a new record for the date.

Axar.az reports, according to data recorded at 15:10 Moscow time, a weather station located on the roof of a departmental building near the Krasnopresnenskaya metro station registered a temperature of 30.5°C.

The previous record for May 19 was set in 1979, when temperatures reached 30.2°C. Meanwhile, the coldest May 19 on record occurred in 1893, when temperatures dropped to minus 2.2°C.

Meteorologists also noted that the abnormal heat wave affecting central Russia is expected to ease by the end of the week.
