Two schoolchildren killed in Dinslaken car crash

Two children have died after a car crashed into a group of school students in Dinslaken, in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia state.

Axar.az reports, citing BILD, that the second child, who had been in critical condition, also died in the hospital from severe injuries.

A third child sustained minor injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning at around 7:45 a.m. on Hagenstraße, when a 47-year-old woman driving a car veered off the road for reasons still unknown. The vehicle struck three 12-year-old students who were cycling to school and then collided with three parked cars.

Emergency services transported the injured children to hospital, and a rescue helicopter was also dispatched but ultimately not used. The driver was also seriously injured and could not be questioned immediately.

Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.
