Cargo ship hit by projectile in Persian Gulf

A cargo vessel has been struck while transiting in the Arabian Gulf.

Axar.az reports, citing the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the incident occurred approximately 40 nautical miles southeast of Umm Qasr, Iraq, when the ship was hit on the starboard side by an unknown projectile, triggering a large explosion.

UKMTO stated that it is currently unaware of any environmental impact. Authorities are investigating the incident, and vessels in the area have been advised to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity.
