During a deployment linked to operations against Iran, a fire aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford was significantly more severe and damaging than previously acknowledged by the U.S. Navy.

Axar.az reports, citing CNN, that newly obtained video and testimonies have shed light on the scale of the fire.

According to the report, the ship’s fire suppression system failed to function, forcing the crew to battle the blaze manually. The fire took around 30 hours to fully extinguish and affected hundreds of sailors on board.
