Civil Contract leads as Armenia seat distribution emerges

According to preliminary results of the parliamentary elections held in Armenia yesterday, the Civil Contract Party led by Nikol Pashinyan has emerged as the winner.

Axar.az reports that, based on the current results, three political forces will be represented in the Armenian parliament: Civil Contract, Strong Armenia, and the “Armenia” bloc.

The distribution of mandates is as follows:

Civil Contract (Nikol Pashinyan’s party) — 64 seats

Strong Armenia (party of Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan) — 29 seats

“Armenia” bloc (Robert Kocharyan’s bloc) — 12 seats

The Prosperous Armenia Party led by Gagik Tsarukyan received 3.99% of the vote and will not enter parliament.

It should be noted that earlier reports had indicated a slightly different distribution: Civil Contract with 61 seats, Strong Armenia with 28, the “Armenia” bloc with 11, and Prosperous Armenia with 5 seats.
