Three killed as car hits school cycling group in Netherlands

Three people, including two children, have been killed after a car struck a group of cyclists on a school trip in Zeeland.

Axar.az reports, citing the Netherlands' media, the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a group of 14 children cycling with two supervising adults was hit.

Four other children were seriously injured and taken to hospitals in Belgium and the Netherlands, including the University Hospitals of Ghent and Antwerp and Erasmus MC in Rotterdam.

Police said a car left the road in a bend and hit the cyclists on a cycle path.

An arrest has been made, though investigators say the exact role of the suspect remains under review.
