A memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran could be signed in the coming days, but not tomorrow.
Axar.az reports, citing Mehr News, that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated this.
“We must wait for the exact timing of the memorandum’s signing. It will not take place tomorrow, but its signing in the coming days cannot be ruled out,” Baghaei said.
According to him, due to uncertainty in Washington’s position, caution is needed in making statements about the process.
Baghaei also commented on US positions regarding regional developments, noting that Washington’s disagreements with Tehran on certain issues do not pose a problem for Iran:
“The US disagreement on some matters does not create a problem for us. We must act based on our national interests and within the framework of international law. Wherever our national interests require it and our steps are consistent with international law, we will proceed accordingly,” he added.
It should be noted that earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that a peace agreement between the United States and Iran could be finalized within the next 24 hours.
