Fighter jet crashes in Washington after pilot ejects

A U.S. military fighter jet crashed into mountainous woodland in Washington state on Saturday after the pilot ejected safely.

Axar.az reports, citing NBC, the aircraft, identified as an F/A-18 Hornet, went down near Rimrock Lake during what was described as routine training.

Authorities said the pilot suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital following the ejection. Local responders, including the Naches Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service, also battled a brush fire sparked by the wreckage.

Officials described the incident as a “non-fatal aviation mishap,” adding that the cause of the crash remains under investigation and could take months to determine.

The crash site is located within or near the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, roughly 125 miles southeast of Seattle.
