Turkish FM to visit Moscow for talks with Lavrov

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will pay a working visit to Moscow on June 15–17 at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Axar.az reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry, that the two sides will discuss a wide range of bilateral and international issues.

Particular attention will be given to the situation in the Middle East, prospects for resolving the Palestinian issue, developments in the Black Sea region, and maritime security.

The ministers are also expected to focus on expanding cooperation in the South Caucasus, including the reopening of transport links and communications, as well as post-conflict reconstruction efforts. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia and Turkiye are interested in a peaceful and predictable South Caucasus and view the 3+3 Regional Cooperation Platform as an important mechanism for regional engagement.

Lavrov and Fidan will also discuss the situation in Syria, cooperation on Libya, integration processes in Central Asia, and the development of Russian-Turkish trade and economic ties.

In addition, the agenda includes the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, the operation of the Blue Stream and TurkStream gas pipelines, as well as issues related to the safety of Russian tourists in Turkiye.

The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the upcoming meeting is expected to reaffirm the high level of political dialogue between Russia and Turkiye and contribute to further cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
