Deputy general manager of a cultural company affiliated with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Erhan Karaal, was kidnapped outside his home in Istanbul’s Maltepe district on June 17.
Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, Karaal was later found with his hands tied at a prefabricated construction factory located at a construction site in Tuzla.
The Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the incident, while police continue efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects.
According to reports, Karaal was approached by three individuals while he was near his vehicle outside his home. The suspects allegedly assaulted him, covered his head with a hood, and forcibly took him away in a vehicle.
Security camera footage of the abduction has also emerged, showing three people blocking Karaal’s path, grabbing him, and forcing him into a car.
It was reported that investigators found the suspects used a vehicle identical to Karaal’s car, with cloned license plates.
Karaal’s wife said the family had no known enemies, financial disputes, or outstanding debts. She added that police investigations into the case are ongoing.
