Polish President strips Zelensky of top state honor

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has decided to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest state award.

Axar.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, Nawrocki said the decision was made after Zelensky approved naming a Ukrainian military unit after the Heroes of the UPA.

“In view of President Volodymyr Zelensky's consent to one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine being named after the Heroes of the UPA, and following consultations with the Chapter, I have decided to strip the president of Ukraine of the Order of the White Eagle,” Nawrocki said.

He stressed that the move is not directed against the Ukrainian people and does not change Poland’s support for Ukraine in its war against Russia.
