Two Turkish nationals injured after drone hits cargo ship

Two Turkish citizens were injured after a Turkish-owned, Panama-flagged cargo vessel was struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle off Ukraine’s Chornomorsk port in the Black Sea.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the condition of the injured citizens is being closely monitored by Turkiye’s Embassy in Kyiv and its Consulate General in Odesa.

The ministry also expressed concern over attacks threatening Turkiye’s interests in the Black Sea and regional security amid the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war.

“Ensuring the safety of civilian navigation in the Black Sea is among our country’s fundamental priorities, and we call on all relevant parties to take measures that will reduce tensions in the region,” the statement said.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the drone strike killed one crew member, an Egyptian citizen, and caused significant damage to the vessel.
