Russia rejects temporary solutions to Ukraine conflict

Russia will not settle for temporary solutions to resolve the situation in Ukraine and will not accept ultimatums imposed by others.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made the remarks while speaking at the Primakov Readings forum.

He said the issue is of fundamental importance for Russia and that Moscow will not compromise on it by accepting temporary or interim arrangements.

"For Russia, this issue is of a fundamental nature. We will not settle for any temporary, interim solutions, and especially we will not accept ultimatums dictated by someone else," Lavrov said.

Lavrov also stated that Russia remains committed to the understandings reached during the Russia-U.S. summit in Alaska in August 2025.

"We remain committed to these understandings. Their author, by and large, was the American side, while President [Vladimir] Putin only agreed to the proposals presented to us, primarily after carefully studying them," Lavrov said.
