Venezuela thanks Azerbaijan for earthquake support

Venezuela has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its solidarity and condolences following two powerful earthquakes that caused numerous casualties and large-scale destruction.

Axar.az reports that Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto made a statement in a post on his X account.

"The Government of Venezuela expresses its most sincere gratitude for the message of solidarity and condolences addressed to our people by the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the minister wrote.

It was previously reported that a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck northern Venezuela overnight on June 25. The US Geological Survey (USGS) later reported two additional tremors of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5, occurring 40 seconds apart. Venezuelan authorities declared a state of emergency.

According to the latest figures, the earthquake has killed 164 people and injured 971 others.
