UAE, Iran FMs discuss regional developments

UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday.

Axar.az reports, citing the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that during the call, the two sides reviewed the overall situation in the region and the latest regional developments following the agreement on the memorandum of understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the call, Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of fully implementing the agreement to ensure an immediate and comprehensive end to hostilities, respect for state sovereignty, adherence to international law, and the protection of maritime routes, including the uninterrupted flow of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

He also expressed hope that ongoing negotiations would produce positive results, leading to lasting security and stability in the region, and underscored that diplomacy and responsible dialogue remain the best means of resolving regional and international crises.

The call marked the first contact between the two foreign ministers since the start of the conflict.
