A total of 109 people died within a 24-hour period as a severe heatwave continued to grip Paris, placing heavy pressure on emergency medical services.
Axar.az reports, citing Franceinfo, that the death toll was recorded on June 26, when temperatures in the French capital reached nearly 39°C.
The report said the figure does not include heat-related deaths in hospitals and only covers fatalities recorded by emergency medical teams during interventions in public places and private homes.
During the same period, emergency services responded to about 3,400 calls, recorded 30 cardiac arrests, and treated a patient suffering from hyperthermia whose body temperature reached 43.7°C.
