Turkiye arrests 213 in cybercrime across 29 provinces

Turkish authorities have arrested 213 of 409 suspects detained in nationwide operations targeting cybercrime, including aggravated fraud, illegal betting, online child sexual abuse and harassment.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, the Interior Ministry of Turkiye said 117 other suspects were placed under judicial supervision, while legal proceedings against the remaining detainees are ongoing.

According to the ministry, the suspects carried out investment, product sales, lottery, real estate, bungalow rental and vehicle rental scams through social media platforms and phishing websites, gained unauthorized access to victims' mobile banking and gaming accounts, operated and promoted illegal betting sites, facilitated money transfers for illegal gambling networks, possessed child sexual abuse material, and engaged in illegal POS loan-sharking.

The Interior Ministry said authorities would continue their uncompromising fight against cybercrime.

"As part of the fight against cybercrime, our police detained 409 suspects in operations carried out over the past six days."
