Hamas naval police commander killed in Gaza

The Israeli military said it and the Shin Bet security agency killed Mansour Sami Mahmoud Shahtout, whom it identified as the commander of Hamas' naval police in the central Gaza camps, in an airstrike in central Gaza two days ago.

Axar.az reports, in a statement on X, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Shahtout had recently been involved in advancing attacks against Israeli troops.

It added that two other Hamas naval police commanders were also killed in the strike.

According to the IDF, the three men were traveling in a vehicle while armed and "posed a threat" to Israeli forces deployed in the Gaza Strip.

The military said its Southern Command forces would continue operating "to remove any immediate threat" in accordance with the current agreement.
