Two killed, 16 injured in Russian airstrike on Ukraine

Russian strikes on Ukraine's southeastern Zaporizhzhia region killed two people and injured at least 16 others, including two children, on Sunday.

Axar.az reports, citing Kyiv Independent, that regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said the dead included a 53-year-old woman, while the injured included a 16-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy who was reported to be in serious condition.

The attacks damaged residential buildings and sparked fires in Zaporizhzhia, where emergency crews rescued residents and pets from the rubble.

Later in the day, a separate guided bomb strike on the village of Shevchenkivske injured three more civilians.

The strikes followed Russia's overnight missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, which Ukrainian authorities said injured 36 people nationwide.
