Woman rescued alive after 86 hours in Venezuela

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele announced that rescuers had pulled a 60-year-old woman alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in Venezuela after she spent 86 hours trapped following the devastating earthquakes.

Axar.az reports, in a post on his X account, Bukele said Belkys Josefina Barreto Garcia was rescued from the Breogan building in Caraballeda after an 11-hour operation carried out by Salvadoran rescue teams with support from Peruvian USAR rescuers.

"After 86 hours trapped under the rubble, and after 11 hours of intense work, we managed to rescue Belkys Josefina Barreto Garcia, 60, alive," Bukele said.

He added that although doctors stabilized her at the rescue camp, "her health condition remains delicate." Bukele said El Salvador hired a private helicopter to transfer her to a private clinic in Caracas, where she is receiving medical treatment.

"This achievement was possible thanks to the effort and perseverance of our rescuers, who worked without rest throughout the night and early morning," Bukele said.
