At least 14 children were killed and several others were injured on Tuesday when the roof of a private tuition center collapsed in Lahore's Kahna area.

Axar.az reports, citing Dawn, that Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazeer and Lahore Deputy Inspector General of Police Faisal Kamran confirmed the death toll.

Rescue officials said a female teacher and eight children were taken to Lahore General Hospital, with five of the children in critical condition.

Police said rescue operations had concluded and two people, including the building owner and the contractor, were taken into custody.

Authorities said an investigation is underway and legal action will be taken against those found responsible for negligence.
