Berkant Acil, the brother of Turkish singer Haluk Levent, was arrested as part of the third wave of a corruption investigation targeting the Shile Municipality.

Axar.az reports, citing Turkish media, that the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that 13 of 17 suspects detained in coordinated operations in Istanbul and Izmir were arrested, while four others were released under judicial supervision.

The investigation centers on an alleged criminal organization led by Shile Mayor Ozgur Kabadayi. Prosecutors are investigating allegations including forming and membership in a criminal organization, bribery, extortion and bid-rigging.

Authorities said the latest arrests followed the examination of witness statements, financial records, phone data and other evidence related to six additional alleged criminal acts.

Turkish media reported that Acil was among those ordered jailed pending trial.
