Large fire breaks out at waste facility in Vienna

A fire broke out in bulky waste at an open area of the Rinter waste treatment facility in Vienna’s Donaustadt district on Wednesday morning.

Axar.az reports, citing Austrian media, that firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby hall.

Strong winds and heavy smoke complicated the operation, but the fire was brought under control by noon with support from the MA 48 company fire brigade.

One worker sustained minor injuries and received medical assistance before being released for home care.

Post-extinguishing work is expected to continue into the afternoon, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
