Tusk urges Ukraine to ease tensions

Poland expects Ukraine to take concrete steps to ease tensions between the two countries stemming from historical issues.

Axar.az reports, citing Polish media, that Prime Minister Donald Tusk made the remarks during a press conference in the city of Kleczew.

The dispute was sparked by Ukraine's decision to name one of its Armed Forces units after the Heroes of the UPA (Editor's note: The Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), which fought during World War II, has been accused by Poland of carrying out mass killings of Poles).

"We expect Ukraine to take the first step following this unfortunate decision by President Volodymyr Zelensky. It would be good to hear a very clear signal from Kyiv. They are trying, but we would still like to hear it clearly and unequivocally," Tusk said.
