The death toll from the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 2,954.
Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that authorities said more than 16,000 people have been left homeless, while an unofficial tally of missing persons exceeds 41,000.
“The number of people killed has reached 2,954,” the government said, adding that nearly 30,000 officials and 3,281 international rescue workers have been deployed to assist affected communities.
The 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude earthquakes struck Venezuela’s coast on June 24, causing widespread destruction, particularly in La Guaira state.
