Pezeshkian thanks Armenian PM for attending Khamenei funeral

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian thanked Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for attending the funeral ceremony of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in Tehran.

Axar.az reports in a post written in Armenian on his X, Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his sincere appreciation for Pashinyan's presence and that of the high-level delegation accompanying him, as well as for the sympathy shown by the people and government of Armenia toward the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The president stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran would not forget this gesture of goodwill.

Referring to the historical and friendly ties between the two nations, Pezeshkian expressed hope that relations between Iran and Armenia, which have always been based on shared interests, good-neighborliness and mutual respect, would continue to expand. He also noted that the late Supreme Leader had consistently emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with the Republic of Armenia.
