Trump shifts rhetoric on Ukraine after US intelligence

US President Donald Trump has changed his rhetoric and diplomatic posture toward Ukraine – a shift directly prompted by classified intelligence briefings detailing the severe impact of Kyiv’s long-range strikes deep into Russia.

Axar.az informs via the Kyiv Post according to The Wall Street Journal(WSJ), Trump has been regularly briefed on the development and application of Ukrainian domestically produced long-range drones. Officials state that the US president has been impressed by the ingenuity of Ukraine’s defense sector and the effectiveness of its deep strikes against Russian military and industrial targets.

The shifting attitude marks a stark departure from the president’s previous stance. During a tense Oval Office meeting in February 2025, Trump accused President Volodymyr Zelensky of ingratitude and stated that Kyiv had “no cards” to play in the ongoing conflict.
