Trump warns China, Russia against involvement in Iran war

U.S. President Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin assured him they would not provide weapons to Iran.

Axar.az reports that in a post on Truth Social, Trump said Xi told him during their recent meeting in Beijing that China would not "under any circumstances" give or sell weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that the pledge also applied to Chinese companies.

"Considering our relationship, I take him at his word," Trump said, adding that he was "doing him very big favors, also."

Trump also said Putin had told him that Russia would not sell weapons to Iran despite the ongoing war in Ukraine.

"The relationship remains, as it does with President Zelensky," Trump added. "He understands that I do not sell weapons to Ukraine, but to NATO countries. They pay full price, and how those weapons are distributed, I have no idea."

Trump said that, in his view, China and Russia were not participating in arming Iran.

"If they did, it would be very bad for them — certainly not in their best interests," he noted.
