Zakharova: Russia open to Ukraine peace talks

Russia has never refused a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukraine crisis and remains ready to pursue one.

Axar.az reports, citing Russian media, that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the remarks during a briefing.

"Accordingly, a legitimate question arises, which for some reason has not found coverage either in the [US] State Department or anywhere else: who exactly failed to implement the so-called "Anchorage formula", which was really capable of bringing peace?" she said.

"For our part, we confirm our readiness towards a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, which has never been abandoned," she added.

Zakharova added that Moscow is ready to consider possible discussions, proposals and ideas to resolve the conflict. According to her, further negotiations should take into account the agreements reached in Anchorage.
