Ukraine shoots down rare Russian Forpost-R UAV

The Ukrainian military has shot down a Russian Forpost-R heavy reconnaissance and strike drone capable of carrying guided munitions over Russia's Kursk region.

Axar.az reports that the announcement was made by Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces.

According to Brovdi, the drone, which was carrying KAB-20 laser-guided aerial bombs, was detected and destroyed on July 27 by pilots of the 7th Battalion. The UAV was intercepted over Russia's Kursk region by a Ukrainian Chaklun-KM interceptor drone at an altitude of 4,300 meters.

Brovdi described the Forpost-R as a rare and high-value target. He said it is the sixth such drone whose destruction has been confirmed since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the second credited to the 7th Battalion.
