German investigators probing the deadly attack at Berlin's Christopher Street Day (CSD) march have found a video on the mobile phone of suspect Abdul Ballout in which a masked individual pledges allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).

Axar.az reports, citing German media, that according to the German Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, investigators believe the person in the video is most likely Ballout, although the investigation has not yet been completed.

Authorities said the footage contains no direct reference to the attack or any explicit call to carry it out. Prosecutors are also examining whether the video was ever sent to ISIS and whether it is linked to the assault.

According to the report, two of Ballout's cousins were members of ISIS. The report said Ballout told suspected ISIS operatives while attempting to travel from Lebanon to Syria that he had been recommended by his cousins — one killed while fighting for the group and another currently imprisoned in Iraq.

According to the report, Lebanese investigators identified the cousins as the sons of Ballout's paternal aunt, who was married to Omar Bakri Muhammad (also known as Omar Bakri Fustuq), a prominent jihadist preacher. German investigators also found that Ballout posted a photograph of one of the cousins as his WhatsApp status in October 2024, apparently in tribute.

The attack in Berlin left one person dead and 31 others injured. Police continue to search Berlin's Tiergarten park for the machete believed to have been used in the assault, while the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office is leading the terrorism investigation.
