A drone struck a U.S.-owned floating gas storage tanker at Egypt's Mediterranean port of Damietta on Wednesday, igniting a fire that spread to a second gas carrier.

Axar.az reports, citing Reuters, that maritime security firm Ambrey said the drone hit the floating storage tanker Energos Winter, while three trading sources said that the blaze later spread to the Gaslog Salem.

Port services company Inchcape also reported that two gas tankers caught fire at the port.

The crew were evacuated and the fire had been brought under control, Ambrey said in an initial assessment, adding that no group had claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ambrey stated that no one was injured and no damage was caused to the port infrastructure. So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
