Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine's air defenses managed to intercept only one ballistic missile during Russia's large-scale overnight attack on August 1 due to a shortage of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

Axar.az reports that according to Zelensky's Telegram channel, Russia launched 35 missiles, including 27 ballistic missiles, as well as 185 attack drones of various types.

"Only one ballistic missile was intercepted last night simply because there are no missiles left for the Patriot systems. This shortage of missile defense capabilities only encourages Russia to carry out such attacks that threaten people's lives," he said.

He added that Kyiv was the primary target of the overnight assault, while the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions also came under attack.
